Governor of Nairobi County, Johnson Sakaja

Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja has stated that his administration will not shut down churches or other houses of worship due to loudness.

When launching the Green Park Terminus on December 1st, Sakaja stated he will consult with the church to see if there is a way to reduce excessive noise in residential neighborhoods.

“We are going to have a conversation also with the churches that please let us be considerate of others, and that is how you spread the gospel by being a good example. Of course siwezi enda kufunga kanisa,” he stated.

“I’m a believer and I will not touch a place of worship, whether it’s a mosque, a church or a synagogue but we are urging them to set an example and be responsible,” he added.

The city’s loud nightclubs will be shut down, Sakaja affirmed, adding that he has no patience for individuals who are seeking compassion for they fear losing their jobs.

“I will not go back on the abolition of bars and restaurants from residences. We have closed that chapter. Let us move on. Those saying people will lose jobs are seeking sympathy. It is the right thing to do although it is unpopular,” he claimed.
