AC Milan wins their first Serie A in 11 years

Former Chelsea and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud scored twice before Franck Kessie completed a first-half blitz against Sassuolo to secure Milan’s title.

Inter’s 3-0 win against Sampdoria at home was not enough to prevent Milan from reversing their previous season’s top-two standings.

It also implies that the neighbors are equal on 19 top-tier championships each.

As Stefano Pioli’s side broke one of the club’s greatest droughts, top scorer Olivier Giroud and ex-Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori impressed once again.

The victory capped Milan’s incredible second half of the season, which began with Inter’s shocking 2-1 setback at Bologna on April 27.

After losing to Spezia on January 17, AC went on a 15 games winning streak.

Incredibly, they only allowed six goals throughout their title-clinching stretch.

On the other end, Giroud’s 11 goals have been backed by Rafael Leao’s ten and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s eight – the 40-year-old great who was part of Milan’s last top-flight winning squad in 2010-11.

Inter needed a win to go to the final on Sunday, while Milan could only hope for a draw.
