President-elect William Ruto, former Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja

Robert Alai led a walkout of Members of County assemblies from Azimio at Governor Johnson Sakaja’s inauguration to protest the presence of President-elect Dr. William Ruto on Thursday.

Mr. Peter Imwatok, the newly elected MCA for Makongeni Ward and a former minority whip, blasted Governor Sakaja for “not notifying them” that Dr. Ruto would be there when he issued an invitation to them.

Since the Supreme Court has not yet made a decision on the presidential suit that challenges his victory, Mr. Imwatok stated that they could not attend a function that he would be gracing.

However, he said that they had no issues with Mr. Sakaja since he ascended to power fairly, with Azimio candidate Polycarp Igathe conceding victory, unlike the controversial presidential race.

Against Mr. Igathe’s 573,516 votes, Mr. Sakaja received 699,393 votes to win the governor’s contest.
