Bungoma Members of the County Assembly (MCA’s) have ousted their majority Leader, Florence Fulani (Maeni Ward).

Her position has been taken up by Joseph Nyongesa ( MCA (Tuuti Marakaru Ward).

The Ford Kenya MCA was accused of having duped the other MCAs to take irregular allowances drawn from the Jerricans scandal in the pretext that the cash was from WHO.

She is also accused of being lured by the executive to collect over Sh 2 million to bribe honourable members in the pretext that the funds were from the World Health Organization yet the money was part of the controversial sh 11 million that was allegedly used to purchase Jerricans  ”

On May 12, EACC summoned all the 62 MCAs for interrogation to shed more light on the cash paid in as perdiem.

Citizen for Good Governance director Phillip Wanyonyi Wekesa has called on the relevant authorities to surcharge the MCAs so that the money is recovered for public benefit.

25 out of 36 MCAs present at today’s session voted for the removal of the Majority leader who has lost grip of the other members of the assembly.

Elizabeth Tindi( MCA Tongaren) replaces Joan Lutukayi(Naitiri/Kabuyefwe ward ) as Deputy Majority leader., Meshack Museveni (MCA Mukuyuni replaces Everlyne Mutiembu (MCA Malakisi/Kulisiru ward) as the chief whip.

Joseph Maguda (Township Ward) replaces Luke Opwora( Ford Kenya nominated) as the Deputy chief whip.

Most of the MCAswho voted against the majority leader are close allies of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ ula and those shown the door are close allies of Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.

The two have been flexing muscles after Bungoma Senator Wetang’ ula called on EACC to investigate the jerrican scandal and arrest the culprits.

Governor Wycliffe Wangamati defended the culprits, saying that the jerricans were donated by well-wishers who to date are unknown to the public.
