The new chief’s office in Ngoliba area in Thika East Sub County that was constructed by local NG- CDF at a cost of Sh1.5million. Initially, the administrators used to work in a muddy and deplorable building.

National Administrative officers in Ngoliba, Thika East Sub County have a reason to smile after they were handed new offices which were built by the local NG-CDF.

The building is an upgrade from the old mud-walled office that had developed cracks and whose roof was leaking.

The Sh 1.5 million three-roomed building will house the Assistant County Commissioner, chief and their secretary. It has a kitchen and is connected to electricity.

Speaking during the opening of the office over the weekend, Ngoliba chief Alice Njoki Kago said the old building was dilapidated and they feared it would collapse during rainy seasons.

She said even members of the public feared bringing their complaints to the office with some preferring to present their grievances outside the office where they felt secure.

“We are now motivated to work. The old building was deplorable. Even members of the public feared it. This new building has been connected to electricity and therefore we will be able to work for longer hours and file reports on time,” she said.

Thika MP Patrick Wainaina who handed over the new building said most local administrators work in deplorable conditions.

He said mud-walled offices portray a bad image of the government adding that it is shameful that at this age, some administrators work in such deplorable conditions.

Besides the chief’s office, the local NG-CDF is also constructing police posts in areas identified as insecurity hotspots.

He said with the many projects being undertaken in the constituency,  NG-CDF was not adequate forcing them to look for resources elsewhere. “We remain with about Sh 40 million for development from NG-CDF and given the need, sometimes, we get overwhelmed” he said.
