Roads corporations have been asked to mark boundaries on their various roads to avoid encroachment.
Presidential delivery unit North Rift regional director, Timothy Kiplimo said that this will also help the government to save money used to compensate those who have made development on government land along different roads in the country.
Kiplimo was speaking during a CDICC meeting at the county commissioner’s boardroom on Tuesday.
“A lot of money is going to compensations to people who have encroached on road reserves and this can only be avoided if all road reserves are marked,” he said.
He said monitoring of government projects had resumed following months of the corona virus pandemic.
The committee was discussing progress of various roads in Trans Nzoia that are under KURA and KERRA and later had site visits of the roads.
Trans Nzoia West deputy county commissioner, Abdulahi Khalif who chaired the meeting on behalf of area county commissioner Samson Ojwang asked contractors to work within the contract period.
According to Khalif, delay in the completion on government projects tainted the image of government, adding that contractors who encountered challenges should escalate them to the county development implementation and co-ordination committee without delay.
