Isiolo County Commissioner   Herman Shambi has called upon politicians to stop inciting wananchi  against the government over insecurity issues  when  it arrests criminals.

Speaking at his office on Wednesday, Mr Shambi said that the government will continue hunting down crime suspects regardless of their tribal or political connections and urged members of the local communities to stop hiding criminals because they are their kinsmen.

“The government security intelligence leads to arrest of suspects regardless of their status in the society and will not spare criminals who are hiding behind the community by inciting the citizens to revolt hence avert apprehension,” the County Commissioner said.

He revealed that a recent shooting of a boda boda rider by security personnel should not be politicised because the officers were pursuing a suspected criminal known to both security agents and wananchi.

Mr  Shambi added that during the shooting, the deceased refused to stop and started shooting at security officers but was gunned down before he could overpower them.

The county boss said that security officers recovered an illegal firearm and several rolls of Bhang from the suspect during the incident.

In another incident, Mr  Shambi added that police officers on patrol at Yamicha area in Merti Sub-County were engaged in an exchange of fire by criminals who had ambushed their vehicle but security men repelled them escaping into a thicket.
