Kirinyaga County has lost one of its leading luminaries and elder brother to the area Senator Charles Kibiru.

Johnson Gichira Kibiru was reported to have succumbed to cancer at a Nairobi hospital this week according to his close confidants Dr Julius Gathogo and Maina Kinguru.

The senior Kibiru was the immediate former Director of Survey, after retiring from the Public service a while ago.

Following his demise, residents of Mutira village are in a state of mourning due to his leadership abilities and a heart to give.

He was also a Board Member of Canon Njumbi secondary school among other public institutions in the community besides having served diligently in the civil service.

According to Dr Gathogo the senior Kibiru has assisted many children from poor background from the area without expecting any rewards or favour from their relatives.

“Gichira did not discriminate anyone who went seeking for assistance from him as his heart was open to all and his generosity will be missed by many residents,” Dr Gathogo said in his message of condolences to the bereaved family.

The don said Kibiru’s death had created a wide gap which would take many years to fill due to his honesty and generosity which had no strings attached. Gathogo further said Canon Njumbi secondary school had lost a visionary leader where the part he had been playing was now a vacuum.
