William Kabogo, the leader of the Tujibebe Wakenya party, has provided extensive details about his interactions with President Uhuru Kenyatta, which led to his being labeled a mole within the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
In addition to recalling the 2017 Jubilee party nominations, which he lost to impeached Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu, he noted that his conversations with Uhuru focused on his political future.
Kabogo hinted that the Head of State blamed William Ruto, his deputy who oversaw the nominations. However, the DP said that President Kenyatta had given him orders when he was speaking with Ruto. In addition, the former governor discussed the growing divisions within Kenya Kwanza, pointing out that their agreement was not documented in writing.
Kabogo disclosed that his support for Ruto was predicated on the assurance that increased funding would be distributed to the county governments based on population, giving Kiambu the second-largest portion of the budget.
However, he pointed out that the agreements relied on a verbal understanding with Ruto, and the party leaders had not yet signed anything in writing.
“I only joined Kenya Kwanza because DP Ruto agreed with me on my proposal that additional revenue allocation to counties should be based on population and that it would be put into writing.”
Kabogo said that the Kenya Kwanza leaders have not yet responded to the letter that Moses Kuria, the head of the Chama Cha Kazi, and his party wrote outlining their complaints.
The coalition’s popularity, particularly in the Mt. Kenya area, has been severely harmed according to the two leaders, who accuse Ruto’s UDA of intimidating partner parties in Kenya Kwanza.
