Prof. George Wajackoyah, Roots Party presidential candidate, has disclosed another strategy his government plans to use to improve Kenya’s economy if he wins the election in August.
Wajackoyah, who has advocated for the legalization of marijuana and its commercialization for medicinal purposes, now claims that Kenya can profit from the lucrative anti-venom market by raising poisonous snakes and extracting toxins from them, allowing the country to produce antidotes locally and export them.
According to the Roots Party Leader, there is a ready market for anti-venom all over the world and if the country can capitalize on the lucrative trade, it will be able to pay off its mounting debt over time.
Wajackoyah also mentioned that snake meat is a delicacy in some countries, thus Kenya might invest in anti-venom manufacturing while simultaneously selling snake meat overseas to diversify its revenue streams.
“We have so many snakes in this country and we have so many snake eaters. One of the ways we are going to offset debt is by taking these snakes, extracting poison from them and manufacturing them into anti-venom and shipping the reptiles to other countries where they are consumed,” said Wajackoyah.
Marijuana and commercial snake growing, together with incentives to improve the country’s current economic infrastructure will be the first priorities for Wajackoyah’s administration following the election, he added.
