Jimi Wanjigi, a businessman, has announced Willis Otieno, the former head of Raila Odinga’s presidential campaign as his presidential running mate in the August 9 elections on the Safina Party.
Mr. Otieno, a lawyer by training, oversaw Mr. Odinga’s campaigning for the National Super Alliance ahead of the 2017 elections (Nasa).
Mr Wanjigi, who revealed him on Tuesday at the Ufungamano House in Nairobi, said it was time for the country’s young to take charge.
“I unveil my wonderful running mate, a great son of this soil, a great young man, a diligent professional and a great friend, my young brother Willis Otieno,” Mr Wanjigi said.
Mr Wanjigi, who backed Mr Odinga’s presidential candidacy in 2017, said he and Mr Otieno were now looking for the country’s leadership to fulfill a commitment made at the time.
