A cameraman at a local television station based in Molo sub-county has died after allegedly committing suicide.

The lifeless body of George Kori, 34, was found Sunday dangling from a tree in their farm in Mutamaiyo village in Elburgon.

According to the family members, their kin went missing on May 19 of this year and since then they have been on a search mission until Sunday, when his body was discovered in their farm.

It is said that the deceased informed his family members that he was off to survey the progress of his farm only for him to never return.

Search efforts have been difficult for the family since Kori left his mobile phone at home, thus had to ask for help from friends and report to police for further assistance.

Molo sub-county police commander, Joshua Karanja confirmed the incident saying that the matter indeed came to their attention after the family members found him in their farm.

However, the deceased never left behind a suicide note therefore there is no clear reason as to why he decided to take away his life. His body had also no physical injuries.

Karanja added that Kori’s body has since been collected and moved to Elburgon sub-county hospital morgue.

A relative who sought anonymity said the deceased has a debt of Sh.  300,000 but cannot ascertain whether it could have prompted him to commit suicide.

The relative added that Kori has been battling depression and luckily the family members took it up upon themselves to counsel him after an attempt to take away his life aborted.

Since then, he has withdrawn from family and friends until he met his untimely death.

He has been eulogized by his colleagues as a humble, soft-spoken and hard worker.
