Electric buses shipped by BYD Automotive

A fleet of fifteen electric buses have been sent to Kenya as the country moves closer to phase out gasoline and diesel-powered PSVs (PSVs).

The buses, which are the largest shipment of electric buses in the region, shipped in at the Port of Mombasa on Tuesday.

According to the Kenya Ports Authority, the world’s largest producer of electric cars, BYD Automotive, shipped the electric buses after a successful trial run with two pilot buses that are currently running in Nairobi.

KenGen announced that it will add 30 electric vehicle charging stations to the two already located in Nairobi and Naivasha in 2023.

Two Kenyan electric vehicles companies have already introduced buses into the e-mobility market.
