Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici has expressed her unhappiness with how UDA officials have been treating her despite supporting DP William Ruto in his presidential race.

As she was donating food on Wednesday evening to starving residents in Mwea and Gichugu constituencies, she declared that she would vie for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate in the coming 2022 General Elections.

She continued to express fears that UDA officials would rig party’s nominations for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat favoring Governor Anne Waiguru who currently hold the seat.

Mrs Ngirici alleged that she was asked to step down for Governor Waiguru after she was invited to the UDA headquarters in Nairobi.

“When i appeared at the headquarters , the officials tried to convince me to give up my gubernatorial ambitions and vie for the Mwea parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket. I refused, as they were determined to kill my dream,” she said.

She raised concerns about party nominations claiming chances are their might be rigged, telling voters to elect leaders and not political parties.

“If UDA officials are telling me to vie for a junior seat, do you expect nominations to be free and fair?” she asked.

She said she has nothing against Deputy President William Ruto and that voters were free to vote for anyone. She talked about offering a lot for UDA only to be replaced by newcomers.

Stating that she would run for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in 2022 as an independent candidate, she spoke with confidence about retaining her supporters.
