After utilizing their song during the Azimio running mate announcement ceremony on Monday, Raila Odinga’s ODM party has replied to the boy band Sauti Sol.
In a message uploaded on their official social media platforms, ODM expressed gratitude for the band’s contribution to the country’s music industry, saying that the song was performed as a sign of affection for Sauti Sol.
“We would like to assure our celebrated musical team @sautisol that we love them and appreciate their music so much. The group has carried our country’s flag so high in international and every Kenyan appreciates this. Playing their song yesterday was a show of love for their work,” they stated.
Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja alliance was called out by Sauti Sol yesterday for utilizing their prized music ‘Extravaganza’ without their permission.
“We did not license this song to the Azimio la Umoja Campaign neither did we give any consent for its use in the announcement of their Vice-Presidential Candidate. Furthermore, our authority to use the composition, which is one of our most distinct compositions was neither sought nor given.” they stated
We would like to make it very clear to our fans, partners, and associates, we are not aligned to nor associated with the Azimio La Umoja Campaign or any other Political movement and/or party their presidential aspirants, vice-presidential aspirants, and candidates at large. We are fully apolitical,” they added.
