Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya

Kenyans were shocked on Monday, August 29,  when Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, the exiting governor of Kakamega, requested on his Facebook page that locals support Cleophas Malala of the Amani National Congress (ANC) in the Kakamega gubernatorial race.

Being the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) deputy party leader, the outgoing governor has previously spoken against Malala.

On his verified Facebook page, the post was shared along with a picture of the ANC governor candidate and the hashtags “#VoteCleophasWahunguMalalah.”

The departing county governor has since marked the post as fake, claiming the page has been hacked by agents of doom.

“This is to notify the general public that my Facebook page has been hacked by agents of doom,” he clarified via a post on his official Twitter handle.

The county boss has then notified the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to launch investigations on the matter.

“Ignore any post on my Facebook page as we await DCI to handle the matter and restore it,” he added.
