The Inter-Faith Council have today announced the phased reopening of places of worship starting Tuesday next week under strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines.

Addressing the press at Ufungamano House, the council Chair Archbishop Anthony Muheria said they had already prepared an interim report and presented their recommendations to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Archbishop said the reopening will be done in four phases depending on the trend of disease and compliance beginning in the next 7 days from July 14, 2020.

He urged places of worship to put in place sufficient stations of washing hands with soap or sanitizers and to ensure all congregants wear masks throughout the services.

Archbishop Muheria reiterated President Kenyatta’s earlier conditions that congregants should not exceed 100 at a time adding that those below 13 years and those above 58 years should stay home.

Social distancing of 1.5 metres must also be strictly observed, unnecessary contact to be avoided and places of worship must be disinfected regularly.
