Ksh2.3 million was stolen from Prime Bank branch in Nakuru on Wednesday. According to police reports, they suspect the robbery was an inside job. The report says the guard on duty opened the main door for the robbers.

Detectives believe the robbers conspired with the employees to pull off the heist at the Prime Bank Westside Mall branch. A guard on shift at the mall said the robbers walked in the bank hall posing as customers before beginning the robbery.

Upon execution, they calmly walked out and sped off on their motorbikes. Senior detective from the DCI disclosed that CCTV footage identified some suspects as employees at the bank.

“We are still reviewing the CCTV footage. We have so far identified some of the suspects and we will soon arrest them. Bank employees, including the manager, have recorded statements,” stated the detective.

No arrests are yet to be made according to the Nakuru Town East sub county Police Commander Ellena Kabukuru.

“We have handed over the matter to the DCI who have launched investigations into the robbery. The suspects will be tracked down and arrested,” she said.

Business is back to normal in the bank with two additional unarmed guards at the entrance.
