Four University students believed to be part of a gang behind robberies in Ruai, Juja, Kayole and other areas in Nairobi, were on Saturday night arrested during an undercover police operation.

According to a report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the officers were acting on intelligence leads that the four alleged freshmen were part of the gang.

A 19-year-old Kenyatta University student was first to be arrested and later led the officers to his other three accomplices who were residing at Kwa Benson apartments in Juja’s Container area.

“Richard Lankisa, 18, Brian Kituku, 19 and Emmanuel Nyangwencha, 18, all of them pursuing a degree course in Development Studies at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, were arrested,” said DCI on Twitter.

After combing through their house, the police recovered a Glock pistol, 8 used 9×19mm special cartridges, one empty pistol magazine, one white plastic face mask, 2 laptops, believed to have been stolen property, among other items.

The four were then taken to Juja police station where they will be detained awaiting arraignment.
