President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday chaired Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party’s inaugural Council meeting at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC)

President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the first meeting of the Azimio la Umoja Coalition Party Council at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) today.

At 8:30 a.m., President Kenyatta arrived at KICC, where he was greeted by Mr. Odinga and some council members, including Azimio Executive Director Raphael Tuju.

However, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, a council member, arrived after the head of state.

Even as a group of women leaders nominated Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Mr Musyoka has claimed that he is the finest candidate for Mr Odinga’s running mate.

Former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth is also being mentioned as a possible running mate, according to sources in Mr Odinga’s camp.

Mr Odinga’s campaign has already written to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), demanding more time to pick a running partner, claiming that the commission’s April 28 deadline is unconstitutional.

Mr Musyoka, Kanu chairman Gideon Moi, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Narc Kenya leader and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, Kanduyi MP and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Wafula Wamunyinyi, Abdi Noor Omar Farah, and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed were in attendance.
