Estimated 1,533 pounds of alleged cocaine seized at the US-Mexico border.

The US Customs and Border Protection agents at the US-Mexico border intercepted what appeared to be a package of baby wipes but was revealed to be Ksh 1.4B worth of cocaine on Friday at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge. The bridge connects Texas and the Mexican state of Nuevo Laredo over the Rio Grande, just north of Laredo, Texas.

The Office of Field Operations at CBP dispatched a trailer truck for a second check even though it claimed to be carrying just baby wipes. A ccording to the announcement, a sniffer and “non-intrusive” investigation led to the discovery of 1,935 parcels containing around 1,533 pounds of alleged cocaine.

According to the press release, officers confiscated the drugs, and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations is probing into the discovery.
