The Africa Cup of Nations football competition commenced yesterday 9th January at State d’Olembe` in Yaounde, Cameroon yesterday.

The opening ceremony was was extremely impressive, beautiful, or skillful. Cameroon’s 88-year-old President Paul Biya and First Lady Chantal Biya graced the occasion.

Burkina Faso threatened not to take part in the opening game against Cameroon claiming the COVID-19 tests that came out positive were not genuine but a plot to favour the home team.

Confederation of African Football investigated the claims and verified the results were genuine. “Therefore the results of the tests are authentic and cannot be disputed.” CAF said. The response allowed the match to proceed as planned.

Burkina Faso five players and coach tested positive for COVID-19 and thus were not involved in the game where they lost 2-1 to Cameroon.

Fans embraced the competition painting the city with national colors. The Africa Cup of Nations will televised to millions of fans with the competition hitting a record breaking broadcast of 157 nations.
