Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala was ordered to apologize to the National Police Service on Wednesday after making comments regarding police officers at a rally.
Senator Malala asserted that the police force was dominated by school dropouts and persons who lacked intellectual competence.
Because the job description is “unsophisticated,” the lawmaker claims that the national police service does not require highly qualified employees.
He said that a police officer’s only responsibility is to handle a firearm and hence does not require technical expertise, which would encourage them to continue their study.
“As long as they have two arms and legs, they may join the police force, a police officer’s work comprises solely handling weapons, which does not need any training.”
