Lottery Club, Murang’a branch has donated assorted materials worth Sh 500, 000 to assist in the fight against Covid-19.
The club members handed over water tanks and hospital equipment to Murang’a county government on Friday to boost efforts on combating spread of coronavirus.
Led by their president Beatrice Wanjohi, the members said they managed to mobilise resources to get two machines to offer services at children section in Murang’a level-5 hospital.
The president said that the two equipment C-PAP and Pulse Oximeter will help support treatment of infants who experience respiratory complications.
She said that the water tanks will be distributed to various parts of the county to help residents to wash their hands as a measures to combat spread of Covid-19.
Wanjohi noted that the club will continue supporting the fight against coronavirus through various ways of interventions.
“In other parts of the country, the club is actively donating food among other necessities to less fortunate and here in Murang’a we will continue to comprehend county government’s efforts in fighting the spread of the disease,” she added.
Lottery club, Wanjohi added will soon join other well-wishers and partner with the county government in distribution of food to poor families.
Speaking when he received the donations on behalf of the county government, the executive member in charge of Health and Sanitation Joseph Mbai observed that they have been able to reach a big number of residents in provision of materials to fight covid-19 through contributions from well-wishers.
He noted that they have a committee which is coordinating distribution of donated items by organisations, companies and individuals to ensure every part of the county gets the needed materials.
“The coordinating committee is working out to ensure all public centres, markets, hospitals among other areas get water tanks, sanitisers and masks. We still need more water tanks among other items so as to reach as many residents as possible,” added Mbai.
Lauding the Lottery Club, the CEC said that the two medical machines will give needed services at infant section in Murang’a Level – 5 hospital.
“Some children are born with some respiratory complications and C-PAP machine will give needed support at the hospital,” he further stated.
The donated water tanks were handed to local water companies to help in installing them at trading centres to ensure locals access clean water for washing their hands as a way of controlling spread of coronavirus.
