Safaricom Centre in Narok town opened its doors to the public again for business after undergoing fumigation over the weekend and other stringent measures being put in place to ensure the safety of the employees and the members seeking services there.
This is after an employee of the tele-communication giant based at the centre tested positive of the novel Coronavirus on Thursday last week.
Narok County Public Health Officer Mr. Edward Oludaru Tankoi urged members of the public to feel free to seek services at the Centre and assured the members of the public that the centre was safe and measures have been put in place at the centre to ensure the safety of the staff and members of the public.
He said all the staff who were on duty with the affected patient have been put on 14-day quarantine and are being monitored until the 15th day when they will be tested to ascertain if they are infected with the coronavirus or not.
The Safaricom case brings the total of those who have tested positive of the Covid -19 in the county to three.
The patient tested positive during a routine testing of the tele-communication giant employees in Nakuru, where her family lives and is now receiving treatment in the isolation centre at Narok Referral Hospital.
The first case in Narok was found at Suswa trading center two weeks ago, while the second victim was a casual laborer at the Narok town Sewerage Construction site based at Polunga estate in Narok town.
Kenya registered a total of 6,070 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus by yesterday, more than 100 days after the first case was reported in the country with Nairobi and Mombasa counties leading the pack with the highest number of infections, forcing the government to announce a lockdown of the two counties and night curfews in the country to stem its spread.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed all the 47 counties in the country to put up over 300 bed capacity isolation centres in their counties to help in handling the increasing cases of coronavirus pandemic before he can lift the lockdown in Nairobi and Mombasa and the curfew and open the economy again.
