Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa

Didmus Wekesa Barasa, Kimilili member of parliament, was re-elected on the United Democratic Alliance ticket.  Mr. Barasa, who remains missing after he allegedly killed his DAP-K party rival’s aide on Tuesday night, received 26,000 votes to Mr. Khaemba’s 9000.

Additionally, Mr. Peter Makokha of the ODM and Mr. Erastus Muchimudi of Jubilee had expressed interest in the Kimilili parliamentary seat. The four candidates that took part in the election did not appear throughout the vote-counting process.

On Wednesday, there was a lot of police deployment and a high level of tension at the constituency tallying center at St. Luke’s Kimilili Boys High School.

Police were prepared to arrest the MP if he appeared at the tallying center.

Some locals have backed the MP in relation to the shooting, claiming that the lawmaker acted in self-defense.
