William Ruto, the newly-elected president, and Rigathi Gachagua, the newly-elected vice president, are meeting with Kenya Kwanza Alliance elected leaders this morning (Wednesday).

Dr. Ruto will meet with Senators, National Assembly members, Governors and their deputies, and Woman Representatives.

“The President-elect and his deputy hereby invite the following categories of newly elected leaders to the first caucus of leaders elected to serve in the Senate, the National Assembly and all elected Governors. This caucus will be convened at the Deputy President’s residence on Wednesday 17, August 2022 at 9am,” a statement signed by the UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina, stated.

A similar meeting will be going on at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, held by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga running concurrently with the Kenya Kwanza’s.

In his remarks to a related gathering on Tuesday, Mr. Odinga had objected results that had named Dr. Ruto the president-elect.

Dr. Ruto and Mr. Gachagua would later meet with elected Members of the County Assembly affiliated with Kenya Kwanza in the regions in which they were elected to serve, part of the statement read.

The leaders of the Azimio La Umoja camp held a conference similar to this over the weekend where they declared that they had already won the presidency and were only awaiting the official announcement.

However,IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati announced Kenya Kwanza’s William Ruto as the new president elect which led to leaders led by Saitabao Ole Kanchory, Raila Odinga’s national chief agent claiming that the results had been rigged.

Later, in his victory address, DP William Ruto declared that for the next five years, he would be open to working with all elected officials, regardless of their coalitions or affiliations.

“There is no looking back now, we are looking to the future. We all need all hands on the deck to move forward,” he said.
