Scenes of three men assaulting an elderly woman in a viral video

Three men were detained after a video of them hitting a woman assumed to be their in-law and her kid at Ringa in Homa Bay County went viral, drawing considerable outrage from Kenyans.

Dedan Kimathi Agan, Enos Odhiambo Osoo, and Lukio Okwiri are being arrested at the Oriwo police station in Kambui, pending arraignment at the Homa Bay Law Courts on charges of bodily assault.

“Further to an incident reported yesterday where an elderly lady and her son were assaulted by known persons,” the National Police Service stated. “The following are under custody and being processed to be charged for offence of assault inflicting actual bodily harm.”

According to preliminary inquiries into the event, Ms Pacificah Kwamboka Ngota was performing her regular duties when she heard her son and daughter arguing over a piece of soap on Sunday.

She abruptly paused what she was doing and dashed to put an end to the oncoming fight between two toddlers.

However, before she could halt the battle, her in-laws appeared and began beating her with sticks, alleging that she was defending her children, despite the fact that their loudness was disturbing the village.
