Three-story structure near Kitengela heights under construction in collapsed early on Friday, killing two people. Rescue efforts are in progress as Isinya OCPD Ancient Kaloki arrived on the scene.

According to reports, one mason has been saved.

“It is officially confirmed that two people, both men, died this morning after a building under construction in the EPZA area collapsed,” Isinya OCPD Ancient Kaloki said.

Other construction workers who had assembled at the site managed to escape after a loud noise was heard from the centre of the building before it collapsed.

Officially, only two people were killed by falling debris. Their bodies have been moved to Kitengela subcounty hospital mortuary.

According to a National Construction Authority (NCA) audit study on building collapses in the nation, poor construction is the main reason for building collapses in Kenya.
